Welcome to The Green Season!

In the north, the "green" season extends from early March, when the snow melts, revealing the first cheerful crocuses, to sometime in October, when killing frosts wilt tender annuals and the wind sweeps away the last of the leaves. For gardeners though, the green season is much more than green. It's a time of flowers! The Green Season is dedicated to filling that season with as much color as possible.

At The Green Season, you'll find:

  The Green Season is headquartered in beautiful south-central Wisconsin — USDA growing zone 4b — and so our focus is on plants that flourish in the northern zones of the United States and Canada. Visit our garden log (glog) for book reviews, garden tours and other sources of ideas and inspiration.
• Photos and sources of our favorite plants in bloom.
  We'll be roaming our area and photographing gardens that we admire. We will also include gardens that manage to remain interesting even when the green season is over. Click one of the photos to the left to learn more about the plants we have found this week.
